Wisconsin's home baker exemption
Under a 2017 Wisconsin court ruling (Kivirist v. DATCP), home bakers may sell baked goods that are not potentially hazardous directly to consumers in Wisconsin without a state food license. Our kitchen is not licensed or inspected by the state.
What we sell
Only shelf-stable, fully baked goods: cookies, brownies and bars, breads and rolls, baked fruit pies and crisps, and cakes and cupcakes that are unfrosted, glazed or finished with a shelf-stable frosting.
What we don't sell
- Cream cheese frosting, whipped cream, custards, cream or mousse fillings
- Cheesecake, pumpkin pie, cream pies
- Fudge, candy, cocoa bombs, fried donuts and no-bake treats
- Cooked meals, meat dishes or anything that needs refrigeration
- Home-canned goods online
How we sell
Directly to you, in Wisconsin only: order requests on this site with pickup in Menomonie or local delivery, and in person at farmers markets and community events. We don't ship, sell wholesale, or sell through other stores.
Labels & allergens
Every package carries the home-kitchen disclaimer above, the product name, ingredients in order by weight (naming major allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, soy and sesame), the bake date, and who made it: Momma Bear Sweetz, Menomonie, WI, mommabearsweetz.com.
Our home kitchen handles wheat, eggs, milk, soy, peanuts and tree nuts. If you have a food allergy, please tell us before ordering.
